Okay now on to the actual video. It would have been cool for them to film some scenes in the city or around notable landmarks. Would have been even cooler to let more Bay Area people appear in the video if they wanted to go the route of allowing fans to be in it.
One thing that has been bothering my about all the criticism about the video is how everyone is suddenly a fashion critic.
Sure fashion is deeply rooted in hip hop culture but criticizing artists over their clothing says a lot more about you then it does about them.
Yeah, the Bay and L. Props to Drake for hiring people from his hometown to do the video. I just think it could have been a lot better and had the potential to be a historical video for both Drake and the Bay Area.
From a Bay Area native, this was one of the worst represented videos I have ever seen. Green boots, North Face jacket, I could care less. Sports gloves while driving? Does he even play sports? Mistah F. Tyga wearing a Dodgers jersey in the video? Compare and contrast the difference.
I think 50 Cent wearing a SF hat was a good move and it was cool that he had some Bay Area folks in the video. I think Drake could have definitely reached out to more Bay Area people for his video. Would be a different story if he rapped about LA being better or wore a shirt defaming the Bay.
Especially if you have been shouting it out for a while like Drake has been with the Bay. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account.
